Purpose and Objectives:

We are looking for a creative talented writer to join our rapidly growing e-commerce business team. This individual will be instrumental in our company’s continued e-commerce transformation and will be critical to current and future success. In this role, you will be responsible for creating compelling and keyword-rich content to engage online consumers with our product offering, educate them on our items, and finally convert them into a customer.  The ideal candidate for this position has an endlessly creative mind, desire for continuous education and research into best practices, and flexibility to manage multiple priorities. This team member will work alongside our content creation and marketing team to ensure that we have visual and written content that shares a consistent and compelling brand experience to online consumers.

Essential/Specific Duties and Tasks:

  1. Create product titles, bullet points, and in-depth product descriptions rich with searchable keywords for product detail pages
  2. Revise, edit, and proofread all content before it is published to partner websites to ensure accuracy
  3. Maintain copywriting style guides for product descriptions and listing content by category and brand
  4. Research keywords of competitive landscape to improve product views, search rank, and conversion
  5. Create copy enhancements and supplemental content to provide additional search or purchase conversion content that is channel-specific
  6. Develop content schedule for external digital marketing assets (social media, email marketing, blog content)
  7. Evaluate emerging technologies for optimization and business development
  8. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate to further enhance content optimization
  9. Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners per business need
  10. Monitor customer reviews to understand customer feedback and utilize for content enhancements and product positioning

Expanded Scope Duties and Tasks:

  1. Assist in planning digital marketing, including SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media and search display advertising campaigns for kateandlaurel.com
  2. Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies for kateandlaurel.com

Held Accountable for:

  1. On time and accurate completion of product content for publication to retailer sites
  2. Reviewing and enhancing product content to continually improve our product position
  3. Communicating with team members on status of content

Qualifications (including Education, Physical Demands, Working Conditions, Equipment Used, Other Required Skills):

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communication, PR, creative writing, marketing, journalism, or business
  2. 1-3 years’ experience writing for eCommerce in an in-house or agency environment
  3. Experience in home décor space preferred
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites required
  5. Experience with Salsify, Jungle Scout, or Helium 10 preferred
  6. Experience with project management-ability to prioritize, manage and deliver multiple projects on time
  7. Flexibility to adapt quickly to internal and external changes and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills plus conceptual and creative aptitude
